Kathy's Story: A Final Request
Kathy knew her time was drawing near. Having recently lost a beloved dog, she reached out to John to craft a special urn for her cherished pet’s ashes. Touched by the beautiful craftsmanship and attention to detail that John put into the urn, Kathy made a deeply personal request—she wanted John to create an urn for her own ashes as well.
Kathy's condition was terminal, and she hoped that the urn John crafted for her would arrive before she passed. John took this request to heart, dedicating himself to the work with diligence and care, understanding the importance of fulfilling Kathy's wish.
Through a series of intimate conversations, John came to know Kathy not just as a customer but as a person facing the end of her life with remarkable grace and calm. Her peaceful disposition left a lasting impression on him, and he poured his heart into creating an urn that would be a fitting tribute to her life.
Remarkably, the urn arrived before Kathy passed away, allowing her to see the beauty of the piece that would one day hold her ashes. With the help of her husband, Edward, Kathy was able to write John a heartfelt letter expressing her gratitude:
"Dear John,
We hope this letter finds you and your family in the best of health and happiness! Both of the urns are absolutely beautiful! The design you chose with the adorable paw print for our dog is perfect! As for my urn, the writing is so beautiful and the grain of the wood is stunning! We know you worked hard and fast to get them here before I pass, and we are so truly grateful to you!
It is amazing how it worked out, that I get to look at the urn's beauty each day before I pass! I really did not think I would live until it got here! You are truly an artist, and we are so glad we found you!
Sincerely,
Edward & Kathy"
Kathy’s story is a testament to the deep connections that can be formed through something as simple, yet profound, as an urn. It serves as a reminder that the work John does goes far beyond woodworking—it touches lives and provides comfort during some of the most difficult moments a family can face.
